1- MISSION
With reference to the organizational structure of the department to which the position is attached, define its main purpose and contribution it makes:
To setup and maintain standardized servers and workstations, connect them to the company China network infrastructure; keep hub center and server system in high availability and stability condition, to support end users in optimizing their use of these workstations; to provide effective IT equipment in support of transaction processing, office/corporate communications and general office work

2- PERFORMANCE CRITERIA
1 - Major results and / or performance levels expected as part of the mission
(over a period of several years) :
· Quantitative (approx 4):
Þ Hub and server system Uptime – MTBF, MTTR
Þ End user Uptime – MTBF, MTTR
Þ Percentage of Hub and server system failure
Þ Percentage Literacy of End Users – on basic MS Office, WinNT4 workstation, standard network usage and connectivity options to Lafarge China network
Þ End user compliance to China MIS guidelines on proper workstation usage, end user data storage/ data housekeeping guidelines
Þ Percentage of IT equipment failure caused by improper or unauthorized end user handling
· Qualitative (approx 3):
Þ Planning and Documentation
Þ Alignment to MIS Strategies and Standards
2 - Indicators for measuring the effectiveness of the job holder:
Þ Projects on time and budget
Þ Turnaround on end user support requests
Þ Hit / Miss (Rework) on:
Þ Server standardization
Þ Initial Server setup/go production/trouble shooting
Þ Workstation standardization
Þ Initial handover/setup/replacement of a workstation to an assigned end user

3 -Main objectives of the position:
Þ Hub and server system administration

3 -RESPONSIBILITIES
1 - What – describe the main responsibilities briefly, using an action verb, to
highlight the value added by the position:
·IT equipment administration
·Setup and maintenance servers
·Develop effective user hardware configurations (PCs, printers,
others) in accordance with IT infrastructure strategy, support
systems staff closely during their installation and regularly
reviews these installations for technical compliance against
defined MIS standards.
·Maintain desktop / notebook PCs, printers and other IT equipment as
effective workstations and tools
·Ensure limited IT resources i.e. workstations, equipment, licenses
are accounted for and deployed to maximum advantage against total
corporate business objectives
·End User Support
·Supervise first level support with IT technicians
·Deliver next level technical support including data recovery and
vendor expertise when standard first level support becomes
unsatisfactory
·Coordinate training courses and materials for improving Information
Technology skills of end-users
·Conduct formal and hands-on orientation on proper use of end user
IT equipment, data housekeeping guidelines and MIS
policies/procedures on a regular and first-time use basis

2 - What context – describe the problems and difficulties associated with the position:
· Work schedule :
· Minimum 40 hour work week
· 24 hours per day, 7-days per week on call
· Proficiency - need to keep abreast with complex and rapid
advancements in Information Technology especially on the fields of
server and workstation technology, end user connectivity, office
software and office automation trends to ensure ongoing viability,
integrity and optimization of server, workstations and IT
equipment

4 .- SKILLS
Identify 3 or 4 skills required for the job (managerial and technical)
Þ Expertise in server and workstation operating systems, end user IT equipment installation
and management, data/voice communications
Þ Strong communication and presentation skills; strong people- and service orientation
Þ Strong problem analysis and troubleshooting skills
Þ Effective negotiation/management skills in dealing with outside consultants and vendors;
Þ Ability to work decisively under stress considering the criticality, urgency and extended
work hours required to anticipate or address end user support requirements
